What is A Gif And Who Invented it?
Updated: May 4, 2022

This past week, we learned that the man who created the .gif has passed away. His name was Stephen Wilhite. He died from the complications of COVID19 and was 74. We've been on the Internet since it first became available to the general public, but I go as far back as America Online, Compuserve, and Prodigy.
This is also where he got his start. He envisioned the Gif (pronounced Jif) in his mind's eye and created it.
Gif stands for "Graphic Interchange Format."
Here's a great article about him and how he created the Gif.

Here's also one of his favorites, the famous "dancing baby." Creepy but loved by all.
