My Computer Won't Connect To My Seagate External Hard Drive [SOLVED!]

 Hello, friends.

My IT background makes me want to fix things all the time, and when the spousal complaints about an 8 Terabyte hard drive by Seagate grew louder in our studio, it was time to solve that prickly problem.

Lo and behold, there are thousands of people all over the world with the same, exact problem. Weird things would happen when they tried to connect to an external drive they had purchased from Seagate.

It didn't even matter if they had a MAC or a Windows PC. The same headaches dragged on for them, sometimes for years.

I finally fixed ours, and I wanted to share it with any of you who are struggling with a similar issue.

First, let's talk about the problems people are seeing. Maybe yours is among them.

Here are some of the symptoms:

Computer takes a long time to shut down or restart.

If you leave the computer alone for a long while and come back, you can't connect to the drive.

You can't connect to the drive at all.

You can't even use drive utilities to find out if your drive is good or bad.

When you try to copy a lot of files to the drive, it often dies in the middle of the copy process.

You're losing sleep over the thought of losing the files you stored there.

Here's the fix. (it's that simple, in the majority of cases)

https://www.seagate.com/support/software/paragon/

or search on Google.com for the "paragon driver for seagate"

Download that simple, little driver and install. That's it. Can you believe you spent all that time struggling with your external drive? Yikes. I don't want to think about it.

Note: If this fixed your problem, please leave a comment about it. If we get some response to posts like these, I'll definitely do more of them to help anyone out. My hope is you'll follow this blog and leave comments for other readers. Tips of your own? Share them. We would love to see them.
